Pastor James E. Moore


Rev. James E. Moore



Pastor James E. Moore was born December 20, 1950 in Sandersville, Georgia.   He graduated from T. J. Elder High School in 1968.  In June 1969 he was drafted into the military where he severed on active duty for twenty-seven years as a Marine until his retirement in July 1996.  At the time he retired he held the position of Sergeant Major, Marine Corps Recruit Depot and the Eastern Recruiting Region at Parris Island, South Carolina. 


He served as a Deacon in the Central Baptist Church, Beaufort, SC from 1982-1984.  In 1984 he accepted his call into the ministry.  He then served as Associate Pastor of the Central Baptist Church, Beaufort, South Carolina and the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Okinawa, Japan.


In August 1988, Pastor Moore became pastor of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.  He serves as the National Chaplain for the Montford Point Marine Association; Vice President of the Parris Island Armed Services Bank at Parris Island, South Carolina; Member of the Board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Beaufort, South Carolina and Chairman of the Sheldon Township community Support Partnership.


He furthered his education in the ministry by attending the Morris College School of Religion.


Pastor Moore is married to the former Gwendolyn M. Lee of New Orleans, Louisiana who is a retired Sergeant Major of the United States Marine Corps.  They have one daughter Jammie Kay who is a graduate of the University of South Carolina-Columbia.
