Min Dawson

Minister Gerald Dawson, born on January 2, 1953, is the son of the late Mr. Horace and Mrs. Lucille Dawson of Gardens Corner, South Carolina.  He is the seventh child of ten children.  Minister Dawson received his early education in the Beaufort County School System attending the following schools:  James J. Davis Elementary, Beaufort Junior High and Beaufort High School.  He was among the first group of African American students to step forward to integrate public schools in Beaufort County.  He did additional studies at the Technical College of the Low Country.  Minister Dawson has held several positions of employment; most notable were his positions as a paramedic with Beaufort County EMS and postal letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, from which he retired.  He is a member and ordained minister at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he is also president of the Brotherhood Ministry, coordinator of the Tape & Radio Ministry and the instructor for the New Believer’s class.  Minister Dawson is married to the former Vivian Burns of Burton, South Carolina.  They have four adult daughters: Tewanda, Denise, Nakeisha and Anita.  They also have seven grandchildren.
